Guidelines for success in using a timing-Chip:

  1. Runners will wear an electronic timing Chip on their shoelace. Chips in the pocket or pinned to bibs will not be read by the timing equipment.
  2. Each timing Chip is equipped with a computer chip and coded specifically to each participants’ assigned race number. Make sure that you don’t swap chips, and when you pick up your race packet, please verify that all of your information is correct, especially name, age, and gender.
  3. All timing chips must be returned at the finish line. All Chips are scanned after the event for proper return credit to participants. If the timing Chip is not returned, or is lost or stolen, you will be charged a $35 lost/replacement fee.
  4. If you pick up your packet and know that you will not be participating, please do not pick up your timing Chip. If you pick up a timing Chip and don’t return it at the race, you will have five business days to return it to Tidewater Striders, Attention of Rick Brown, 649 S. Westgrove St., Va. Beach, VA 23455. Please wrap the Chip with padding before mailing.
